Honda tops nearly every “best used vehicle” list in the country, and it’s easy to see why: Honda also ranks highly on “best new vehicle” lists! From safety and reliability to having the latest features with a comfortable price tag, Honda has earned a reputation for some of the best re-selling vehicles around.
Take, for example, the Honda Civic. It’s always at the top of the list when it comes to popular compact cars and sedans across America. It’s affordable, fun, and reliable, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a family car, a daily driver, or even a first automobile purchase.
The 2013 Honda Civic has earned many awards, both for its value as a brand new vehicle and for its resale value in subsequent years. Though this vehicle has a bit of age behind it, it’s an extremely relevant and dependable vehicle. The base engine is a 1.8L inline-4 that offers 140 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. It’s also stocked with plenty of helpful standard features on all trim levels, including Bluetooth telephonic and streaming audio capability, multiple USB ports, a rearview camera, with power locks, windows, and cruise control.
Fast forward to 2020, and these features are still not standard on many base models from other manufacturers. Yet the 2020 Honda Civic has drivers of all trims stocked with plenty of power and features. Depending on the trim, you can enjoy the “zoom” that comes from a 2.0L inline-4 engine offering 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, or an “extra-zoomy” 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 with 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of what streets you drive or which engine takes you there, you’ll have a fantastic time in a new Civic.
For those who are more concerned with what’s in the cabin than under the hood, the 2020 Honda Civic is very well equipped. Automatic climate control, power locks and windows, folding rear seat with trunk access, and a Bluetooth-compatible infotainment system with a five-inch display are all still standard, but so is Honda Sensing, a collection of driver aid technology. Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alerts, including automatic emergency braking to prevent a collision, along with lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, road departure warnings, and automatic high beams. This standard safety suite far surpasses some of the optional offerings other manufacturers provide.
You might have heard the term “CPO” or “Certified Pre-Owned” tossed around lately. The “Pre-Owned” part makes sense––that means someone else has driven this particular car, truck, or SUV before. But what does this “Certified” mean?
A Certified Pre-Owned Honda is one that has been specifically certified by Honda Manufacturing as a vehicle that has plenty of life left. They determine this by ensuring each vehicle that receives this certification has undergone a thorough inspection and meets strict criteria.
First, the vehicle must be less than six years old, with fewer than 80,000 miles on the odometer. Then, certified Honda technicians perform an intense 182-point inspection that covers both mechanical and appearance considerations. Any components that do not meet the criteria to pass inspection may be reconditioned or replaced with Genuine Honda Parts.
Additionally, all maintenance must be up-to-date on these vehicles and will include a free CARFAX history report to demonstrate the qualities that have allowed this vehicle to be certified by Honda directly.
Aside from getting a pre-owned car you can trust, CPO vehicles include a Certified Used Honda Warranty. This covers all major engine and transmission components outside of standard maintenance, glass, and interior. Honda will repair or replace defective covered parts such as the engine, drive system, and transmission.
Other benefits and warranties may apply and can differ between models, but may include roadside assistance, non-powertrain equipment, Honda audio repairs, and subscriptions to onboard Honda driver assist programs.
